What do you think is the main benefit for a graduate/intern working at Aberdeen Standard Investments?
For me, the main benefit of being a graduate is the ability to shape your rotations throughout the business. All teams are happy to accept Graduates if they show the desire and interest to try something new. The exposure you get to different parts of the business proves invaluable as you look to join a desk and you are able to refer and link to friends and colleagues in not only other areas of the business, but also other countries and regions. As a linguist at heart, the opportunity to meet colleagues from European offices is a huge benefit and I’m looking forward to spending at least one rotation out in a European regional office to test myself in a foreign investment environment.
What projects have you been involved in since you joined?
One of my favourite projects to work on was to organise and manage the bi-annual EMEA Sales Summit where European Business Development teams congregate in London for two days of insightful talks and presentations from colleagues situated in all parts of the business.
This year’s summit was especially interesting to organise given the news of the merger breaking in the run up to the event. It was a fantastic experience to help build an insightful and appropriate agenda that would aid the development of Distribution colleagues.
