The Australian Management team within Aberdeen Standard Investments comprises the senior executives within our organisation, who are responsible for major business areas.

Members of this committee have joined from both Aberdeen Asset Management and Standard Life Investments.

Nick Bishop

Nick Bishop

Head of Australian Fixed Income

Nick Bishop is the Head of Fixed Income in Australia and a member of both the Credit and Sector Allocation team and the Risk Oversight Group. Nick joined Aberdeen Standard Investments as a result of the merger between Aberdeen Asset Management and Standard Life in August 2017. He joined Aberdeen in 2007, following Aberdeen’s acquisition of Deutsche Asset Management (Australia) Limited. Nick spent two years at Canada Life Insurance Co as a financial services consultant before joining Deutsche in 1998. He was a member of the UK economic team, helping to formulate and implement interest rate strategy before becoming a fund manager and credit analyst in the credit team.

Nick holds a First Class Honours degree in Law and Criminology from the University of Sheffield. He is also a CFA® charterholder and member of the CFA Institute.

Simone Bouche

Simone Bouch

Head of Distribution

Simone Bouch is the Head of Distribution at Aberdeen Standard Investments in Australasia, where she leads a team responsible for distribution, client services, consultant research and investment specialist support. Prior to Standard Life's merger with Aberdeen in August 2017, Simone was the Head of Standard Life Investments' business across Australasia. Simone joined Standard Life Investments in June 2009 as an Investment Director, UK Institutional Business based in Edinburgh before relocating back to Australia.

Before joining Standard Life Investments, Simone was an Executive Director with Morgan Stanley Investment Management in London and earlier, Head of European Client Services for Henderson Global Investors in London. Simone started her career with AMP Capital Investors holding various roles across institutional business and investment analytics.

Simone holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment (FINSIA). She also holds a Master in Organisational Leadership from Melbourne Business School.

Director

Stuart James is a Director and member of the Management Committee for Aberdeen Standard Investments in Australia. Prior to Aberdeen’s merger with Standard Life in August 2017, Stuart was Head of Distribution at Aberdeen Asset Management in Australia.

Stuart joined Aberdeen in 1996 and has held various Distribution roles both in Australia and the UK.

Brett Jollie

Managing Director

Brett Jollie is Managing Director of Aberdeen Standard Investments in Australasia. In this role he oversees the corporate direction of the business and is responsible for ensuring all business functions work effectively and cohesively in achieving the Group’s strategic goals. Prior to Aberdeen’s merger with Standard Life in August 2017, Brett was Managing Director of Aberdeen Asset Management in Australia.

Brett has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. He joined Aberdeen in 2000 and has held roles in operations, product management, sales and marketing in Australia and the UK. Before joining Aberdeen, he worked for EquitiLink, Chase Manhattan Bank and Permanent Trustee Limited.

Brett is a Director of the Financial Services Council (FSC) , co-chairs the FSC’s Investment Board Committee and is a member of the FSC's Standards Oversight & Disciplinary Board Committee. He is also a Councillor of the Australian British Chamber of Commerce.

Brett holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Macquarie University and Graduate Diplomas in Applied Finance and Investment, and Financial Planning, from the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA). He is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Gil Orski

Gil Orski

Chief Operating Officer

Gil Orski is a Director and Chief Operating Officer at Aberdeen Standard Investments where he first joined as legal counsel in 2006. His previous experience includes roles with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Financial Planning Association and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

In his role he is responsible for the oversight of the operating activities within the Australian business with broader business management and coordination responsibilities. Gil is also a member of the Management Committee, Product Committee, Global Innovation Panel, Investor Protection Committee and Chair of the Operating Committee

Gil qualified with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (Banking and Finance) from the University of New South Wales and has a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. He is also admitted as a solicitor of the supreme court of New South Wales and participated in the INSEAD Aberdeen Leadership Development Program.

Robert Penaloza

Head of Australian Equities

Robert Penaloza is a Head of Australian Equities. Robert joined Aberdeen Standard Investments as a result of the merger between Aberdeen Asset Management and Standard Life in August 2017. Robert joined Aberdeen in 1997 as an Assistant Investment Manager on the Asia ex Japan Equity Team in Singapore where he gained the company's distinctive ‘bottom-up’ investment style and regional portfolio management experience. Robert was also CEO and Head of Investments for Aberdeen Thailand where he established the company's successful investment management business.

Robert holds a BA in Business Management (banking and finance) from the Charles Darwin University, Australia and has successfully completed the General Management Program from Harvard Business School. Robert is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD) and a Fellow of the Thai Institute of Company Directors.
