Amanda Young

Global Head of Responsible Investment

Amanda is the Global Head of Responsible Investment at Aberdeen Standard Investments, where the focus is on integrating ESG issues into the mainstream investment process and building Sustainable Investment solutions for ASI’s clients.  Previously, Amanda held positions in responsible investment and economic research at Newton Investment Management, CCLA Investment Management and Rabobank International.

Amanda graduated from Lancaster University with a BSc in Psychology and has completed the University of Edinburgh Business School’s Executive Women’s Leadership Programme.  Amanda led a workstream for the UK Government’s Taskforce on social impact investment, is a board director for Social Investment Scotland’s SIS Ventures fund and currently Chairs the FTSE Russell ESG Advisory Committee. 

She served on the board of the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (UKSIF) for six years.  In 2017 and 2018, Amanda was included in the Financial News list of the top 100 most influential women in Finance.

Andrew Milligan

Andrew Milligan

Head of Global Strategy

Andrew is Head of Global Strategy at Aberdeen Standard Investments. Andrew advises the Chief Executive Officer and the senior fund management team with economic and market analysis. He is a member of the Global Investment Group forming the House View. The Strategy team writes the well-respected Global series of research publications for clients, and is part of the Multi Asset Investing team overseeing the absolute return funds. Andrew is also a member of the Strategic Investment Group.

Andrew joined the company in 2000 as Global Investment Strategist before being appointed Head of Global Strategy in January 2001.

Prior to joining, he was employed by HM Treasury, followed by Lloyds Bank where he was an Economic Adviser, and Smith New Court as an International Economist. In 1994 he was appointed Chief Economist with New Japan Securities Europe. He then moved to Morley Fund Management in 1996 to take up the position of Director of Economic Research & Business Risk. Andrew graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Economic History from Bristol University.

Andrew Paisley

Investment Director

Andrew is a Smaller Companies Investment Director at Aberdeen Standard Investments with responsibility for European smaller companies mandates. Andrew began his career as a Chartered Accountant at Arthur Andersen, before becoming a sector analyst for Sutherlands Stockbrokers. He joined Edinburgh Fund Managers in 1999, joining Kempen Capital Management in 2006. In 2011, he became co-manager of all UK smaller company mandates at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, prior to joining Standard Life Investments in August 2014.

Anne Breen

Anne Breen

Global Head of Investment Process and Strategy

Anne is Global Head of Investment Process and Strategy at Aberdeen Standard Investments, and she is a member of the Real Estate Investment Management Committee.

Her role is to define and articulate the approach for the real estate business. This will include the creation of a Global view to support real estate investment allocations relevant to all investor outcomes, as well as the development of the tools and strategic insights to deliver a strong long term risk adjusted track record for clients.

Previously, Anne managed the Research Team, which was responsible for forecasting UK, European, Asian and North American property markets. Her team also provided strategic input for all real estate funds, including investment in listed and indirect real estate vehicles.

Anne holds a BA, PG Dip, Investment Property Forum Diploma and UK SIP Level.

Ben Ritchie

Head of European Equities

Ben is the Head of European Equities at Aberdeen Standard Investments. Ben originally joined the company in 2002 via the graduate scheme.

Ben graduated with a BA (Hons) in Modern History and Politics from Pembroke College, University of Oxford and is a CFA Charterholder. He is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School .

Gary Marshall

Gary Marshall

Head of EMEA

Gary is Head of EMEA for Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI). His role entails oversight of the asset management business activities undertaken by Group entities domiciled or operating in the EMEA region. He sits on the enlarged Group’s Asset Management Committee.

Gary currently serves as Chief Executive of the ASI Group’s primary fund management companies in UK and Luxembourg. He was previously Group Head of Product and joined the company in 1997, serving as a member of the Group Management Board. He has had experience in many aspects of operations in his previous roles having been based in London and Edinburgh, and in Philadelphia leading the business in the Americas from 2010 to mid-2014. Gary joined the financial services industry in 1983, working initially in marketing and product development at Scottish Provident, a UK life assurer.

Gary graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh and is a qualified Actuary.

Luke Hickmore

Investment Director, Fixed Income

Luke Hickmore is an Investment Director in the Fixed interest team at Aberdeen Standard Investments, where he is responsible for a wide range of credit mandates including GBP base currency unconstrained funds, benchmarked investment grade and synthetic segregated mandates.

Luke joined SWIP in Sept 2007 prior to which he had been an agency broker in credit markets, fund manager for Rathbones for bonds and a wealth manager at a number of houses since 1987. Luke passed his Chartered Securities & Investment Institute exams 1994 becoming a member in that year and progressed to a Fellow of the institute in 1997.

Keith Skeoch

Keith Skeoch

Chief Executive Officer, Standard Life Aberdeen plc

Keith is Chief Executive of Standard Life Aberdeen plc, which oversees £577bn* of assets for clients.

Keith started his career in 1979 at the Government Economic Service. He moved into financial services in 1980 with James Capel (HSBC Securities from 1996), where he was latterly Managing Director of International Equities.

He joined Standard Life Investments in 1999 as Chief Investment Officer, before becoming Chief Executive of that division in 2004. In 2015 he was appointed Chief Executive of Standard Life plc, having been a board member since 2006, and led the merger with Aberdeen Asset Management in 2017. He was named as sole CEO of Standard Life Aberdeen in 2019.

Keith has held a number of key industry appointments. He is currently a board member of the Financial Reporting Council and Deputy Chair of the Investment Association.

In recognition of his wider contribution to the financial services industry – particularly his work in response to the global financial crisis – Keith has been awarded honorary doctorates from the University of Sussex and Teesside University. For his services to the economics profession, he has been named a Fellow of the Society of Business Economists.

Keith is also a Trustee of the Edinburgh International Festival.

Nalaka-De-Silva

Nalaka De Silva

Head of Private Market Solutions

Nalaka is responsible for developing and implementing strategies across Private Markets for Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI). This includes Private Equity, Infrastructure, Real Estate, Natural Resources and Private Credit on a global basis. Solutions based strategies are designed around client outcomes including growth, income and inflation. Nalaka is the Portfolio Manager for the ASI’s Global Private Markets Fund.

Nalaka joined Aberdeen Standard Investments in 2012. Prior to this, he held senior roles at Australian and European Investment management firms. He has lead M&A activity, off-market acquisitions and divestments of assets, offshore and onshore capital rising in debt and equity markets. Nalaka is a Qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a postgraduate degree in Commercial Law and Accounting.

Paul Diggle

Paul Diggle

Paul Diggle is a Senior Research Economist at Aberdeen Standard Investments. Paul is responsible for our European economic analysis and forecasting, as well as our research into long term growth drivers, structural economic trends, and the output gap. Paul joined Aberdeen Asset Management in 2015 from Capital Economics, where he covered the US and UK economies. Previously, Paul worked for Volterra Partners, where he developed Basel II capital adequacy models for retail banks.

Paul’s undergraduate studies were at the University of Oxford, where he graduated with an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. His postgraduate studies were at Birkbeck, University of London, where he graduate with an MSc in Economics. He holds the Investment Management Certificate.

Rod Paris

Rod Paris

Chief Investment Officer, Standard Life Aberdeen plc and Aberdeen Standard Investments

Rod is the Chief Investment Officer at Aberdeen Standard Investments. Having worked for over 35 years in the asset management industry, Rod brings a wealth of investment experience, an extensive technical skillset and valuable knowledge of global markets to his role.

Rod joined in 2002 as Head of Global Fixed Income and was appointed as Head of Investments in 2007 and latterly as Chief Investment Officer in 2013. Rod was also appointed to the Board of Directors in 2004 and to Standard Life Aberdeen Plc in 2017. His current responsibilities as CIO include oversight of all investment activities in both public and private markets.

Previously, Rod was a Managing Director of Global Fixed Income at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and before that a Director at Mercury Asset Management which he joined in 1984. He started his career at Chase Manhattan Bank as a Credit Analyst in 1981. During his career Rod has gained experience in the direct management of both Equity and Fixed Income portfolios for a wide variety of mandates prior to assuming broader management and oversight responsibilities.

He holds a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Keble College Oxford (1978-1981).

Stephanie Kelly

Stephanie Kelly

Senior Political Economist

Stephanie is the Senior Political Economist at Aberdeen Standard Investments Research Institute. She leads the politics, policy and ESG research stream for the Institute, specialising in US, European and UK political and policy analysis. Stephanie is responsible for the construction of the ASI political risk framework and scenario process, as well as the ASI global ESG index. She is also a regular commentator on the implications of political risk for investors in print media and television.

Stephanie sits on the CFA UK Scotland Committee and the co-founded the CFA Gender Diversity Network Scotland. Stephanie holds a BA(Hons) in Economics and Politics and an MSc in International Politics from Trinity College Dublin, with research experience from Sciences Po, Paris and the University of British Columbia. Stephanie joined Standard Life Investments in 2014.
