Scottish Golf, the unified governing body for the sport in Scotland, came into being in October 2015 following the successful amalgamation of the previously separate men’s and women’s golf unions.
The body offers the opportunity for golf in Scotland to grow and prosper through strengthening and supporting affiliated clubs, creating winning golfers, staging outstanding events for golfers of all ages and abilities and inspiring more people – both young and old – to enjoy the game for life.
Aberdeen Standard Investments partnership with Scottish Golf spans right across the men’s, ladies, boys and girls levels and sees the players wearing the Aberdeen Standard Investments logo on apparel and bags whilst in competition.
In 2017, together with SSE Scottish Hydro and Bounce Sports, Aberdeen Standard Investments joined forces with Scottish Golf to announce an exciting new support package designed to ease the transition from amateur to professional golf for Scottish players.
Players supported through the scheme are guaranteed a number of Challenge Tour starts, with similar experience-building opportunities set to be offered to other up-and-coming Scottish professionals in the future, male and female.
For those amateur players achieving a number of successful results and deemed ready to turn professional at the end of this season, the new support package will be open to them – with selection put forward by the Scottish Golf Performance Committee for consideration by the stakeholders.
