Two-time Grand Slam singles champion, Gordon Reid, has been given an additional boost of confidence ahead of this week’s Australian Open, with the news that Aberdeen Standard Investments has added the Scottish world No.4 wheelchair tennis champion to a global ambassador roster that also includes Andy Murray.

Gordon Reid - Scottish two-time Grand Slam Champion

The partnership, which will see Reid wear the global asset manager’s logo on his sleeve for all tournaments, has been announced ahead of this year’s first grand slam in Melbourne. A tournament Reid was victorious in back in 2016 and is billed as one of the favourites to take the prestigious title again this week.

The now double Grand Slam singles Champion, also has seven doubles Grand Slam titles to his name, a 2016 Paralympic Games Gold medal and a busy global schedule for 2018, which includes Aberdeen Standard Investments key markets throughout the season.

Martin Gilbert, Co Chief Executive of Aberdeen Standard Investments, commented: “We are delighted to support such a world-class professional who has flourished at the very top of his profession. These qualities, along with his dedication, ambition and determination to level the playing field in sport are very important to Aberdeen Standard Investments and our people”.

“We are pleased to further develop our support of British tennis and that of wheelchair tennis that is growing in popularity. At Aberdeen Standard Investments we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and are proud to be among the founding members of The Diversity Project, which is aimed at solving poor levels of industry diversity once and for all.”

“We wish Gordon the best of luck down under this week,” finished Gilbert.

Reid, who was awarded an MBE in the 2017 New Year’s Honours List has an ever growing fan base around the world. That coupled with the fact that wheelchair tennis is becoming more and more mainstream will significantly increase Aberdeen Standard Investments brand exposure across the 20 tournaments Reid plays around the globe each year.

Reid commented on the new deal: “I’m really excited to be working with a world-class company such as Aberdeen Standard Investments. It was important to me to find the right partner who shares the same set as values and expectations that I do; on and off the court. Hopefully this can be the start of a very successful partnership.”

Reid, who warmed up for the Australian Open with a runners up and a semi-final finish at events in Sydney and Melbourne this last fortnight begins his quest for his second Australian Open on Wednesday.

"I won my first Grand Slam singles title here in Australia so it is definitely one of my favourite places to play and a great place to kick off the new season." finished Reid.
